Based on the findings of the initial Phase I/II activities and the proposed reuse of the property moving forward, the site has been deemed eligible for entry into the North Carolina Brownfields Program (NCBP) pending successful negotiation of a Brownfields Agreement. A Brownfields Agreement is designed to yield increased marketability of a site by providing environmental liability protections from the State and potential local property tax exclusions upon redevelopment of the property.

The City of Durham, US EPA, the NCBP, and the anticipated developer are working to re-purpose the current onsite structure and redevelop the site with much needed affordable housing options as well as office and retail space.
